WD-40

In 1952, the Rocket Chemical Company was founded to develop a line of anti-corrosion products designed exclusively for space rockets. In 1953 (on the 40th attempt), a unique formulation called WD-40® (Water Displacement) was developed. It was designed for use on ATLAS rockets, specifically to prevent the negative effects of condensed moisture inside the rocket's casing and to prevent corrosion of metal parts.
